He completed a degree in graphic design at Newcastle Upon Tyne Polytechnic and went on to his first job as a designer for a large architectural practice., designing brochures, logos, banners and signs. In the 90's he tried his hand at freelance illustration, working for design groups and advertising agencies and directly for businesses such as Thwaites brewery in Blackburn and Oxford University Press. He joined Hambledon Studios in 2001 and thus entered the world of Greetings Cards. In 2013 he moved over to Hallmark in Bradford where he worked in several different design teams, working in a range of genres from cute and character to traditional artwork. Recently Ian worked for a design team developing plush toys for children. Ian is once again back in the world of illustration and developing new styles for children's publishing and greetings cards.
